A housewife, Sadiya Bashir, has asked a Shari’a Court sitting in Rigasa, Kaduna State, to dissolve her marriage, accusing her husband, Abdullahi Haruna, of failing to provide adequate food for her and their 10 children.
Bashir told the court that her husband’s alleged plan to sell their family house and take another wife had further worsened the situation in their home.
She said she was no longer willing to remain in the marriage, citing what she described as persistent neglect and her husband’s intention to marry another woman.
However, Haruna denied planning to sell the family house, while confirming that he intended to marry another wife.
He told the court that he had been supporting his family according to his financial capacity.
Haruna also said their marriage had been peaceful until his wife became aware of his plan to take another wife.

The judge, Malam Muhktar Mu’azu, subsequently adjourned the case and directed both parties to return with their witnesses on the next hearing date.
