By Olusegun Lawrence Senate President Bukola Saraki Thursday said the 2016 budget was never missing as being speculated but admitted that the Upper Chamber has two versions of the budget.
According to him, the version laid before a joint session of the National Assembly on December 22, 2015, by President Muhammadu Buhari, is different from the one submitted by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang.
“We came to a resolution that since we have two versions of the 2016 Budget, we will only accept the one presented by President Buhari.
“The Budget was never missing.
“While the President submitted one, the Special Adviser presented another one.
“Hence the reason for the investigation,” Saraki told Senators during a closed door session on Thursday.
Prompt News recalls that the Presidency and Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, had at different occasions denied that the budget had been withdrawn.
But, sequel to a Point of Order raised on Wednesday by Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe (PDP- Abia), the Senate President ordered an investigation into the alleged missing budget.
