Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have been drawn in a challenging Group B alongside Ghana, Togo and Burkina Faso for the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship, Prompt News Online reports.
The biennial tournament, which doubles as a qualifier for the 2027 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations, will take place in Côte d’Ivoire from July 26 to August 9.
The draw was conducted on Wednesday at the WAFU B headquarters in Abidjan, with the seven participating nations split into two groups.
Hosts Côte d’Ivoire headline Group A, where they will battle Benin Republic and Niger for a place at the continental finals.
Group B features defending champions Nigeria, Ghana’s Black Satellites, Togo’s Junior Sparrow Hawks and Burkina Faso’s Young Stallions, setting up a series of highly anticipated West African derbies.
The Flying Eagles are scheduled to depart for Côte d’Ivoire next Monday to continue their preparations for the competition.
Abdu Maikaba’s side will also be aiming to defend the title they won in the previous edition after defeating Ghana’s Black Satellites 2-1 in the final.
