The Jigawa State Hisbah Corps has arrested eight over alleged sexual acts with 22-year-old in Jigawa
The Jigawa State Hisbah Corps has arrested eight men over allegations of engaging in sexual acts with a 22-year-old resident of Kazaure Local Government Area of the state.
The Deputy Commander-General of the corps, Dr Hussain Yusuf Baban, confirmed the arrests, saying the investigation followed a complaint filed by the young man.
According to Baban, the complainant, who resides in the Kanti area of Kazaure town, alleged that nine individuals had repeatedly engaged in sexual acts with him on different occasions.
The young man also reportedly told the authorities that he later tested positive for HIV, which he linked to the alleged encounters, prompting him to seek an investigation and justice.
Following the complaint, the Hisbah Corps commenced an investigation and launched efforts to locate the nine suspects named by the complainant.
Baban said eight of the suspects had so far been arrested, while efforts were ongoing to apprehend the ninth suspect.
He added that preliminary investigations indicated that the arrested suspects had made statements in which they allegedly admitted to engaging in sexual acts with the complainant.
The Deputy Commander-General said information and evidence gathered during the investigation had been compiled and would be presented before a court.
Baban urged parents to pay closer attention to the upbringing of their children and monitor the people with whom they associate.
