The Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on Thursday hosted Christian faithful under the umbrella of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to a Christmas fun-fair in Okeagbe Akoko, Ondo State, as part of activities marking the yuletide season.
The colourful gathering drew CAN members from across the state, who came together to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ in an atmosphere marked by joy, fellowship and prayers.

Speaking at the event, the minister, who was represented by Hon. Fafunmilade Adetilewa, described Christmas as a season of reflection, love and sacrifice, urging Christians to use the period to spiritually intervene on behalf of the nation.
He called on the faithful to pray for peace, unity and progress, stressing that Nigeria requires collective goodwill and divine guidance to surmount its challenges.
According to him, beyond the festivities, Christmas should serve as a reminder of believers’ responsibility to promote peace, show compassion and contribute meaningfully to nation-building.
The guest speaker, the Rt. Reverend Bada, who is also the Bishop of Akoko Anglican Diocese, commended the minister for what he described as his giant strides at the Ministry of Interior.
According to him, “Tunji-Ojo is a child of convenant, he is a chosen vessel by God. That is why the ministry he is heading is striving. He is just starting; he is going higher.”
The Chairman of CAN in Ondo State, the Very Reverend Father Anslem Ologunwa, represented by the state secretary of CAN, Most Superior Rotimi Amos, urged leaders at all levels to emulate the virtues of Jesus Christ by being selfless, just and people-centred in governance.
He noted that leadership anchored on the fear of God remains the surest pathway to good governance and societal stability.
The CAN chairman also lauded the minister for identifying with the Christian community during the festive season, describing the fun-fair as a unifying platform that reinforces shared values of faith, love and service.
