Trabzonspor defender Chibuike Nwaiwu has been called up to replace Calvin Bassey in the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming international friendlies against Iran and Jordan, Prompt News reports.
Bassey has withdrawn from the upcoming friendlies after suffering a back injury during Fulham’s 3-1 win over Burnley at Craven Cottage last weekend.
His replacement, Nwaiwu, has received his maiden call-up to the Super Eagles.
The 22-year-old joined Trabzonspor from Austrian side Wolfsberger AC in January
The former Enyimba star has made an immediate impact, scoring two goals and providing one assist in 10 league appearances for the Black Sea Storm.
Nigeria will face Iran’s Team Melli in the first friendly in Antalya on Friday.
