A suspected baby factory operator, Ene Jimmy, has been arrested by operatives of the Akwa Ibom police command.
She’s found to be harboring seven pregnant women and five infants in Usung Atiat, Abak Local Government Area.
A statement released on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, said the discovery was made in a raid on an illegal maternity home allegedly involved in child trafficking, unlawful medical practice, and impersonation.
“Operatives of the Command raided the premises and arrested one Patience Ene Jimmy, ‘f,’ found harboring seven pregnant women and five infants aged between two weeks and one year from different parts of Akwa Ibom.
“Further search led to the recovery of various medical supplies, including syringes, drip lines, herbs, and immunization records, for which the suspect had no legal authorisation.
“The rescued women and children have been placed under protective care while investigations are ongoing to uncover other collaborators and ensure justice is served.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, has reiterated the Command’s commitment to dismantling illegal activities endangering vulnerable individuals,” DSP John said.
