Poland head coach Jan Urban expressed satisfaction with his side’s performance in Wednesday night’s 2-2 international friendly draw against Nigeria at the 58,000-capacity PGE Narodowy Stadium in Warsaw, Prompt News Online reports.
The hosts started brightly but fell behind in the 21st minute when Terem Moffi tapped home to give the Super Eagles the lead.
Poland restored parity late in the first half through Kacper Potulski, ensuring the teams went into the break level.
Nigeria regained the advantage in the 76th minute after Paul Onuachu converted from the penalty spot.
However, the Red and Whites showed great resilience, with Przemyslaw Wiśniewski netting a superb equaliser deep into stoppage time to earn his side a share of the spoils.
Despite failing to secure victory, Urban was pleased with his team’s display and praised their fighting spirit throughout the encounter.
“The scenario from the previous matches repeated itself – we played, the opponent scored. But I wasn’t concerned because we played well. And we played well after the goal. It was a good match against a good team,” Orban was quoted by laczynaspilka.pl.
“That goal could have been easily prevented. Up until that point, only Kamil Grabara’s clearance created a dangerous situation. I know how everyone should react in this situation. Never mind the names.
“The worst thing is that the opponent doesn’t create countless chances and takes only two or three. They’re very cruel to us. But these are friendly matches; they won’t judge us for them.
“Today was a really good match. I didn’t feel helpless, looking at the players who had the entire season in their stride during this training camp. I would have behaved the same way after the entire season. I know this from experience.”
