…Says conmen are spreading falsehoods and scamming Nigerians
Super Falcons defender Ashleigh Plumptre has dismissed viral claims that she plans to stop playing for Nigeria over alleged demands by football officials, describing the reports as false.
Plumptre said the statements were posted by fraudsters operating a fake Facebook account in her name. She added that the conmen are also soliciting money from unsuspecting Nigerians.
The defender stressed that she never made the comments and has never asked anyone for money.
She disclosed that law enforcement agencies have been notified and are working to identify those behind the impersonation, while efforts are underway to have the fake Facebook account taken down.
Plumptre urged fans to ignore the fraudulent posts and remain vigilant against online scammers using her identity.
