A Nigerian man, David Adediwura, has died following a road accident in the United Kingdom, leaving behind his wife and three children.
His death has prompted relatives, friends and former colleagues to launch a fundraising campaign to assist with funeral expenses and provide financial support for his bereaved family.
According to information contained in a GoFundMe appeal organised by his former colleague, Iretiayo Oyewole, Adediwura was involved in a fatal road accident along Cory Wright Way in Wheathampstead at about 9:38 p.m. BST on July 22.
The organiser described the tragedy as sudden and devastating, noting that the news had left the deceased’s family, friends and colleagues in deep shock.
Oyewole said Adediwura was widely admired for his humility, kindness and dedication to his work, adding that he was always willing to support those around him.
He explained that the fundraising campaign was created with the approval of the deceased’s family to help cover funeral and burial expenses, transportation costs and provide immediate financial assistance to his wife and children during the difficult period.
The appeal initially sought to raise £10,000 to meet the family’s needs, while urging members of the public to contribute or share the campaign with others.
Meanwhile, the deceased’s widow, Modinat Adebayo, has paid an emotional tribute to her late husband, describing his passing as the most painful experience of her life.
In a message shared on social media, Adebayo recalled that they had relocated from Nigeria to the United Kingdom in search of a better future for their family, but their hopes were cut short by the tragic accident.
She described Adediwura as her closest companion, confidant, prayer partner and strongest supporter, saying he worked tirelessly to provide a better life for their family.
The grieving widow said she never imagined that the conversation they had on the night before the accident would be their last, adding that his sudden death had created a void that words could not adequately express.
She also noted that their three children, alongside other relatives and friends, were struggling to come to terms with the painful loss of a man she described as hardworking, humble and selfless.
As of the latest update on the fundraising page, £795 had been donated towards the campaign’s £6,500 target.
