Manchester City are stepping up their pursuit of Super Falcons midfielder Jennifer Echegini ahead of the close of the Women’s Super League transfer window, Prompt News Online reports.
The WSL champions have reportedly had a number of bids rejected by Paris Saint-Germain, who are determined to keep hold of the Nigeria international.
According to Guardian Sport women’s football writer Tom Garry, City are still working on a deal and remain hopeful of reaching an agreement before the window shuts tonight.
Echegini has one year remaining on her contract with PSG and has grown into a key figure for the French club since her arrival in 2024.
The 25-year-old already has experience of English football, having spent part of her formative years with Charlton Athletic, Millwall and Arsenal.
Before moving to Paris, Echegini enjoyed an impressive spell with Juventus, scoring 10 goals in 16 appearances during her only season with the Italian giants.
She featured for PSG on Wednesday night and provided an assist in their commanding 5-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in a UEFA Women’s Champions League playoff encounter.
