The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda, has refuted claims that she has resigned from her position.
Speaking on Wednesday, her Chief Press Secretary, Segun Ajiboye, dismissed the reports, stating, “I’m in the office. The Speaker is in the office. I don’t know where that is coming from,” during a conversation with PUNCH Online.
Speculation about Meranda’s resignation began circulating online earlier in the day, with a letter dated February 17, 2025, allegedly attributed to her gaining traction on social media.
However, a closer look at the document revealed that it lacked an official signature.
The Lagos Assembly has been embroiled in a leadership crisis since the removal of former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa by a majority of lawmakers.
