Popular Nigerian TikTok creator Peller has downplayed fears over the temporary suspension of TikTok live streams in Nigeria, assuring fans and critics that his income and brand partnerships remain unaffected.
On Monday reports emerged that TikTok temporarily restricted access to its LIVE feature for users during late-night hours in Nigeria, citing an ongoing safety review and notifying creators via an in-app message.
In a video shared on his TikTok page, Peller expressed surprise at suggestions that the ban would negatively impact him financially. He pointed to his multiple brand ambassadorships and endorsements, each reportedly worth at least ₦40 million, as a buffer against any potential disruption.
“People are expecting me to be crying after TikTok banned live in Nigeria, thinking I’ll go hungry. I’m an ambassador to numerous brands, and none of my endorsements is less than N40 million,” he said.
Peller also highlighted TikTok’s critical role in empowering young Nigerians, providing a platform for rapid audience growth and monetisation opportunities. He warned that the live-stream restriction could limit engagement and income for other creators.
