Yassine Bounou believes Morocco fully deserved their narrow victory over Scotland in their FIFA World Cup 2026 Group C clash, Prompt News Online reports.
The Atlas Lions secured a hard-fought 1-0 win against Steve Clarke’s side at Boston Stadium on Saturday.
Morocco’s decisive goal came just two minutes into the contest through Ismael Saibari.
The midfielder burst beyond the Scottish defence, controlled a perfectly weighted pass from Brahim Diaz, and fired an unstoppable shot past goalkeeper Angus Gunn into the roof of the net.
The strike was the fastest goal of the FIFA World Cup 2026 so far and also the quickest Morocco have ever scored at the tournament.
“I think we played a very good game against a strong opponent, with players with a lot of experience,” Bounou was quoted by FIFA.com.
” I think we had a lot of patience and we were able to create chances, although they were in a very, very low block. In the last ten minutes they pushed a little more and, when we had to step back, we did it well.”
