Manchester City missed the chance to move level on points with Arsenal after they were held to a 0-0 draw by already-relegated Southampton at the St Mary’s Stadium, Prompt News reports.
Pep Guardiola‘s side also squandered the chance to solidify their spot in the top five following the stalemate.
The Citizens now stay within touching distance of fellow Champions League chasers Newcastle United, Chelsea, Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa, with 65 points in third place.
They could drop to fourth position with a win for Chelsea or Newscastle United on Sunday.
The visitors dominated the ball with 70 per cent possession but were frustrated by a stoic defensive performance from Southampton.
Manchester City will face Bournemouth and Fulham in final two games of the season.
