The Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended 49 individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud in Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State.

The arrests were made during coordinated operations carried out between Saturday, May 24, and Sunday, May 25, 2025.

The EFCC acted on credible intelligence linking the suspects to cybercrime activities across several locations in the city.

During the raids, officers recovered a loaded, unlicensed pistol from one of the suspects, who confessed to being a former cult member during initial questioning.

Other seized items included luxury vehicles, high-end mobile phones, and laptop computers.

The EFCC stated that the suspects will face prosecution following the completion of ongoing investigations.
