Algeria’s senior women’s football team have continued their impressive run on the road by defeating host Egypt 3-2 in their second match within three days.
Le Mans women’s of France midfielder, Melinne D’oria put Algeria ahead in the 33th minute while Egypt equalised in the 37th minute to end the first half on equal level.
On resumption, Egypt scored the second goal in the 49th minute to go ahead, but Algeria’s Ines Boutaleb of Auxerre women’s midfielder made it 2-2 in the 62nd minute while Ines Khiri of Yverdon women’s team scored the winning goal for Algeria in the 75th minute to end the match 3-2.
Recall Algeria had last Saturday humiliated Egypt 3-0 at City of October 6 Stadium, Cairo, the Egyptian capital in a pre-WAFCON international friendly match with the visitors waiting until the second half to score three unreplied goals.
Elsewhere, Benin Republic senior women’s team bounced back from their 2-1 loss to Cotè d’Ivoire on Saturday to beat Kenya 2-0 on Monday.
Germany-based Freiburg II women’s team forward Nailatou Sadikou put Benin Republic ahead in the 11th minute while 26-year-old Yolande Gnammi, FAR Rabat women’s of Morocco forward made it two goals for Benin Republic in the 65th minute to ensure that the West Africans triumphed 2-0 against Kenya senior women’s football team.
Meanwhile, no fewer than five matches involving eight African countries will take place today in the ongoing FIFA international women’s football window with the encounter between Cameroon and Nigeria in Yaoundé being the star match today.
In the first match on Saturday, a 90th-minute belter unleashed by Yvana Mbomezomo ensured that Cameroon beat Nigeria 1-0 at Ngoa-Ekelle Military Stadium, Yaoundé to
halt a frequent defeat by Nigeria and restored some pride, not minding the victory came in a mere formality game.
Both countries will square up again on today at the same venue to complete the double-header international friendlies organised by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT).
