Three residents of Kasabo community in Saminaka, Yauri Local Government Area of Kebbi State, have been killed by suspected bandits during an attack on the community.
The attackers reportedly stormed the community in the early hours of Monday, forcing several residents to flee for safety.
A resident, Aminu Salisu, said although many people managed to escape, the assailants killed three residents before withdrawing to their hideout.
“Many residents were able to escape when the attackers invaded the community, but three people were killed before the bandits retreated,” Salisu said.
The incident prompted a condolence visit to the community by the Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, on Tuesday.
Describing the killings as tragic and unacceptable, the governor assured residents that his administration would intensify collaboration with security agencies to protect lives and property across the state.
Idris also announced a donation of N116m to the families of the three victims and other members of the affected community.
The governor said the government would continue to take measures aimed at strengthening security and preventing further attacks on communities in the state.
The Dan Masani of Saminaka, Alhaji Mohammed Bashir, expressed appreciation to the governor for visiting the community and providing financial assistance to the victims’ families.

Bashir described the killing of the three residents as a major loss to the community, while calling for sustained efforts to protect residents from further attacks.
