A man identified as Biola has been killed by suspected cultists in the Ajah area of Lagos State, with his left hand reportedly severed during the attack.
PUNCH Metro learnt from a police source on Tuesday that the incident occurred on Sunday in the DKK area of the community.
The source said the victim was found by the roadside with gunshot wounds around his neck and machete injuries on other parts of his body.
“We received a report on Sunday that a suspected cult attack led to the death of the young man. Our officers were deployed to the spot, and his remains were found by the roadside with gunshot wounds to his neck and machete cuts to other parts of his body,” the source stated.
The victim’s remains were subsequently evacuated and deposited at a morgue, while investigations into the circumstances surrounding the killing commenced.
Meanwhile, a video obtained by PUNCH Metro and shared by Naija Confra showed Biola interacting with some unidentified men shortly before his death.
The platform alleged that Biola told the men that he belonged to the Eiye confraternity, raising suspicion that the attackers might have posed as members of the same group to lure him.
According to the platform, the men allegedly shot Biola before mutilating his body and fleeing after people in the area confronted them.
It further alleged that the attackers attempted to sever other parts of the victim’s body, including his leg and eyes, but abandoned their plans when a crowd gathered.
The incident occurred days after the reported killing of a National Union of Road Transport Workers member, Kamoru Omokoye, by suspected cultists at Abijo Bus Stop in the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos.
Omokoye was reportedly shot in the head on a Sunday morning after the assailants arrived at the bus stop in an unregistered Lexus RX 350.
