George Ilenikhena is eager to make his Super Eagles debut after receiving his first invitation to the Nigeria senior national team,”Prompt News Online reports.
The 20-year-old Al-Ittihad striker was handed his maiden call-up by head coach Éric Chelle for Nigeria’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.
Ilenikhena, who arrived in camp on Tuesday, described his invitation as a huge honour and expressed his excitement at joining a squad filled with experienced players.
“It is an honour to be here. I am proud and happy to be part of this big national team, and for me, it’s a big deal,” he said during a media parley in Uyo.
“I am just 20 years old, and I am here with big and already accomplished players.
“The team spirit is very good. I just arrived yesterday (Tuesday), and I can see that everyone is together like a big family, and that’s very good.”
The young forward will now look to earn his first appearance for the Super Eagles when Nigeria face Madagascar in their AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign.
