Veteran Nollywood actor Chinedu Ikedieze, popularly known as Aki, has been conferred with a traditional title by his hometown in Abia State.
The actor shared the news on Instagram on Monday, proudly unveiling his new title while expressing excitement over the honour.
“My people, I present to you Chief Chinedu Ikedieze MFR, IHIE 1 of ELUOMA UZUAKOLI AUTONOMOUS COMMUNITY ABIA STATE,” he wrote.
The recognition is seen as a tribute to his long-standing contributions to the Nigerian film industry and his influence both within and outside his community.
Following the announcement, fans, colleagues and well-wishers flooded social media with congratulatory messages, describing the honour as fitting for the celebrated actor.
Prompt News reports Ikedieze rose to fame through his comic performances alongside fellow Nollywood star Osita Iheme, widely known as Pawpaw.
Their breakthrough came after starring together in the 2002 comedy film Aki na Ukwa, which launched the famous “Aki and Pawpaw” duo into stardom.
In 2023, Ikedieze opened up about how he first met Osita, recalling an incident in Aba where a woman mistakenly identified him as his colleague and handed him Osita’s clothes.
