Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr has given fans a glimpse into the inspiration behind her forthcoming studio album, revealing that it reflects her personal growth and renewed mindset.
During a chat on Apple Music Radio Takeover, the 23-year-old explained that she is embracing womanhood and allowing that transformation to shape her sound and artistic direction.
“I’m literally becoming a woman, and it’s like you can hear that in my music now, like I’m growing sonically and I want to try different things, like just put myself out there, and have fun while doing it.
“I kind of lost the plot a bit, and I took it a bit too seriously, and it was never that deep,” the artist said.
She noted that the project marks a shift from overthinking to enjoying the process, as she reconnects with the joy that first drew her to music.
“I brought the fun back, and we’re enjoying ourselves,” she said.
