Nollywood actor Daniel Etim-Effiong recently reflected on a short chapter in his life when he dated multiple women at once, describing it as a learning experience.
During an interview with Chude Jideonwo, he was asked if he considered himself a womanizer before marriage. He replied, “It depends on what is your definition of a womanizer.”
When the interviewer clarified that it meant juggling several romantic relationships at the same time, Etim-Effiong acknowledged, “Maybe there was a time in my life I was… I wouldn’t say for long periods of my life. Maybe for some certain periods that I explored. So, perhaps.”

He described those times as valuable lessons, saying, “Yes, they were periods of learning for me. If I learned, then they were good periods.”
Etim-Effiong explained that while such a lifestyle might seem attractive on paper, in reality, it may not provide the fulfillment one expects. “On paper, it feels like that is the life, but experientially maybe not,” he said.
He advised young people to be cautious about adopting a player lifestyle, warning, “I tell young people a lot that it is cool to be a player but if you develop that habit or lifestyle, you won’t automatically change overnight.”
Stressing the importance of commitment, he added, “So, don’t develop something you don’t want to continue for the rest of your life. If you are not able to commit to one person, if you jump from one relationship to another, that won’t automatically change when you marry.”
He also highlighted the challenges of sustaining relationships without practicing commitment beforehand. “When you marry that muscle hasn’t been developed so you encounter one challenge and you want to immediately jump or you just be like, ‘I’m talking to you, you are not listening to me, let me find somebody that would listen to me,’” he said.
In conclusion, Etim-Effiong warned, “If you are the kind of person that before you got married it was easy for you to just walk away, keep different relationships, keep ladies on the string, that won’t change when you get married.”
