By Harry Awurumibe, Editor, Abuja Bureau

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau has admonished the participants in the much-awaited Confederation of African Football (CAF) Grade B License Coaching Course to justify their selection for the programme by paying adequate attention to the lectures they will receive throughout the duration of the course.

Gusua gave the charge on Monday at the official opening of the 2025 CAF B License Coaching Course, holding from August 7 to August 25, 2025, at FIFA Goal Project, Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja. He urged the participants to ensure maximum concentration throughout the course in order to get the full benefits of the programme.

According to him, the participants cannot afford to joke with the course, which he said is returning to Nigeria after seven years of hiatus, pointing out that the return of CAF B License Coaching Course is a welcome development and has made him happy.

Said he: “I am the happiest man in the country to see CAF B License Coaching Course return to Nigeria after seven years absence. With the return of the course, I must say that today we are moving forward and will continue to ensure that our coaches receive the modern coaching trainings required to do their work.’

Speaking further, he said the fact that foreign participants, especially a candidate from Tanzania is taking part in the course in Abuja is a testament that Nigeria has aligned herself to this CAF important course and promised that plans are in top gear to ensure that CAF A License Coaching Course is also held in Nigeria before the end of the year.

He therefore counselled the participants to pay attention to the course as those found wanting may not receive their certificates at the end of the course, adding that he will be coming to the venue of the course from time to time to observe what is going on.

“I will be coming around check up on the participants, and I may not sign the certificate of anyone who did not complete the course. I promise that as long as I am around the NFF office, I will be coming back to see what you are doing”, Gusau said.

No fewer than 25 coaches, including two women, Effioanwan Ekpo, ex-Super Falcons forward, and former assistant coach, Aina Bilikisu Tijanni, are among the participants. Others are ex-international Duke Udi, Shehu Jinjiri, Ezirim Chinedu Kennedy and Daniel Ogunmodede, currently Super Eagles assistant.

Also, attending the course are two prominent women’s football coaches Moses Aduku, Head coach of Edo Queens FC and Naija Ratels manager and Head coach of Flamingos, Bankole Olowookere .
