A 29-year-old man, Olomi Dada, has been arrested by operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps, for allegedly stealing iron rods from the palace of the traditional ruler of Odigbo in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.
Dada was among several suspects paraded by the corps in Akure, the state capital, on Monday.
The suspect reportedly visited the palace after being engaged to carry out some work there. During the assignment, he allegedly spotted iron rods kept around the premises.
According to Dada, he later returned to the palace after assuming that no one was around, allegedly intending to take the materials away.
He was, however, reportedly apprehended by Amotekun operatives while attempting to remove the iron rods from the premises.
Speaking during the parade, the state Commander of Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, said the suspects would be subjected to proper investigation before facing prosecution in accordance with the law.
Adeleye warned criminals to stay away from unlawful activities, saying the corps would continue to strengthen its operations to protect lives and property across Ondo State.
