Falconets head coach Moses Aduku has expressed confidence in the future of his young squad despite Nigeria’s heartbreaking exit from the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, Prompt News Online reports.
The Falconets were knocked out of the competition on Sunday after suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Colombia at the Stadion Miejski LKS in Lodz, Poland.
Nigeria appeared set for extra time before Valerin Loboa struck in the 92nd minute, bundling the ball home to secure Colombia’s place in the semi-finals, where they will meet DPR Korea.
Despite the disappointing result, several Nigerian players delivered impressive performances during the tournament. Goalkeeper Christianah Uzoma, Tosin Rafiu, Janet Akekoromowei and Ramotalahi Kareem were among the players who caught the eye.
Aduku believes the experience gained in Poland will be valuable to the players’ development and is confident they can go on to achieve greater things in the future.
“First and foremost, I think this tournament is good for the young players,” Aduku told FIFA.
“It gives them the ability to grow and reach the next level. In Nigeria, I think we have seen the future of our players, and I believe the future is very bright.”
