The Kano State Police Command has arrested 11 students of Government Boarding Secondary School, Bichi, in connection with the murder of two fellow students.
Police spokesperson Abdullahi Haruna confirmed the arrests in a statement on Thursday, revealing that the suspects are currently undergoing interrogation to determine their individual roles in the incident.
“Eleven students were arrested over the incident, and investigation is ongoing to find out the level of their individual involvement,” Haruna stated, assuring that the police will ensure all those responsible are brought to justice.
In response to the tragedy, the state Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, ordered a thorough investigation.
The directive was conveyed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Bashir Bappa Mohammad, during a visit to the school on Wednesday.

The deceased students, identified as Hamza Idris Tofawa and Umar Yusuf Dungurawa, were reportedly attacked by their peers using locally made metal weapons known as “Gwale-Gwale.”
