Wizkid, Davido And Burna Boy Keep Me Inspired — Shatta Wale

Ghanaian music star Shatta Wale has described Afrobeats heavyweights Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy as major sources of inspiration in his quest to take Ghanaian music to a wider international audience.

Speaking during an appearance on the Afrobeats Podcast, the singer reflected on his relationship with the three Nigerian stars and how their success continues to motivate him.

Shatta Wale recalled that his first encounter with Davido left a lasting impression, revealing that the Nigerian artiste once told him his father was a fan of one of his earlier songs.

“I met Davido first. He came to me and told me his dad loved a song I did way back. We had a very good relationship, but in life, when things start moving, they move fast and we have to accept that. That’s why people don’t really see me and Davido together on camera that much,” he said.

The singer also spoke warmly about Burna Boy, describing their bond as one of brotherhood and noting that they have remained close over the years despite their demanding schedules.

“With Burna Boy, he is like my twin brother. He came to Ghana when things were a little rough. Now, he is busy too,” he said.

Speaking on Wizkid, Shatta Wale described the Grammy-winning singer as someone who has always maintained a calm and private lifestyle, adding that they have only crossed paths a few times.

“Wizkid has always been a laid-back person. The only time I really had a chance to meet him was when we had a show together. After that, we met once or twice at East Legon in my area. I feel he is busy too.”

Prompt News reports the Ghanaian artiste said the achievements of the three Nigerian stars serve as proof that African musicians can break into the global market, adding that he hopes to work with them again in the future.

“I see all of them as motivation because I also have a mission in my country to push the agenda of going international. If they have been able to break through, then it means I should keep working on my craft and gradually we will have a good collaboration,” he said.

Over the years, Shatta Wale has collaborated with both Burna Boy and Davido. His joint projects with Burna Boy include Hosanna and Holy City, while he teamed up with Davido on Wine Your Waist in 2014.
