            By Obaloluwa Joshua, LAGOS

The National Sports Commission, NSC, in partnership with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has constituted a Welfare Committee to ensure the well-being of the Super Falcons throughout their 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations  title defence campaign in Morocco, Prompt News Online reports.

The seven-member committee will be chaired by NFF Executive Board member Aisha Falode, with Ruth David serving as Secretary.

Other members of the committee are Rt. Hon. Margaret Icheen, Babagana Kalli, Emeka Iyama, Aderonke Tinuoye, and Tobechukwu Oluchi.

Director General of the NSC,  Hon. Bukola Olopade, said the Federal Government is committed to ensuring the Super Falcons enjoy a hitch-free campaign at the tournament, free from any form of financial disputes or distractions.

” Mr President, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR alongside the First lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu CON, are both personally committed to seeing that the Falcons successfully defend their title in Morocco which is why this ad-hoc committee was put in place to further assist the NFF to ensure a seamless campaign for team,” declared Olopade.

” Welfare is an unnegotiable key part of any team’s competition success,  and with this committee, the players can be rest assured that the NSC and NFF are taking their welfare very seriously for the WAFCON”, he added.

The Super Falcons will face   debutants Malawi, Zambia, and Egypt in Group C at WAFCON 2026.

Justine Madugu’s side will take on  Malawi in their opening fixture at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca, Morocco on Tuesday, 28 July.

Morocco will host the competition from 26 July to 16 August 2026.
