After beginning their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title chase with an impressive 3-0 bashing of Tunisia, the Super Falcons have got a day off to enable the players recover fully from the rigours of the opening match played at Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca on Sunday evening.
Prompt News exclusively gathered that head coach Justin Madugu does not want to overload the players and has decided that those who played in the match as starters or substitutes will rest fully while the remaining members of the squad of 24 players will have a light walk around within the Ibis Casablanca abode of the Nigerian team.
It was also gathered that none of the players who participated in the match against the Eagles of Carthage as the Tunisians are called sustained any injuries and will all be involved in full training on Wednesday in Casablanca ahead of the next match with Botswana’s Lady Zebras on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca.
Recall goals scored by the trio of Nigeria’s Asisat Lamina Oshoala (4′), Omorinsola Babajide (45+2′), and Chinwendu Veronica Ihezuo (84′) were enough to ensure that the Lady Eagles of Carthage suffered a humiliating defeat in the hands of Super Falcons on Sunday.

By this result, Nigeria still leads the Group B table despite Algeria’s 1-0 victory over Botswana when both teams met at Père Jégo Stadium also in Casablanca, as the two countries are locked in three points from their first games while Botswana and Tunisia are without any point.
