The United States Mission in Nigeria has reminded Nigerians that visa application fees are non-refundable, regardless of whether their applications are approved or rejected.

The mission stated this in a post on its official X account on Wednesday, clarifying that the fee covers application processing and does not guarantee visa approval.

“FACT: The fee paid is an application processing fee, not a payment for a visa to be issued,” the mission said.

It explained that the charge covers the processing of an application until a final decision is reached, adding that applicants cannot reclaim the money if their requests are denied.

The mission advised prospective travellers to obtain visa information from official US government websites and avoid fraudulent agents promising guaranteed approvals or refundable fees.
