England manager Thomas Tuchel retains the full backing of the Football Association and is expected to remain in charge through to Euro 2028 despite the team’s World Cup semi-final heartbreak.
England’s hopes of reaching a first World Cup final since 1966 ended with a 2-1 defeat to Argentina on Wednesday.
Tuchel came under scrutiny for his substitutions after the Three Lions surrendered a 1-0 lead late in the game. However, the German has made it clear he has no intention of stepping down, with FA chief executive Mark Bullingham continuing to give him his full support.
“We keep on going with the contract until the home Euros,” said Tuchel.
“I’m looking forward to that even though right now it’s difficult to look that far ahead.
“A lot of big football nations are eliminated before the semi-final, so it is an achievement.
“No-one wants to hear that at the moment; me neither because we demand the most of ourselves. That’s just the nature of being competitive.”
Tuchel signed a two-year contract extension in February having been appointed in January 2025 on an 18-month mission to win the World Cup.
The 2028 European Championship is being hosted by England, Wales, Scotland and the Republic of Ireland.
