The Nigerian Army has said its troops under Operation FANSAN YAMMA have neutralised two suspected terrorists and recovered weapons during a clearance operation in parts of Zamfara State.
An operational update released on Tuesday indicated that the mission was carried out on Monday within the Bagega–Sunke forest corridor, a known hideout for criminal elements.
According to the report, the troops swept through several locations, including Maikwanuga village in Talata Mafara Local Government Area, as well as Gidan Dawa, Magami Didi, and Tungar Magaji villages in Maradun Local Government Area.
It was gathered that the troops encountered armed terrorists at Tungar Magaji, where a gun battle ensued, forcing the assailants to retreat under intense military pressure.
“Two terrorists were neutralised during the engagement,” the report stated.
The Army further disclosed that items recovered from the scene included an AK-47 rifle bearing registration number NE 3774, a magazine loaded with 30 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and a motorcycle believed to have been used by the fleeing suspects.

The operation, according to military authorities, is part of ongoing efforts to dislodge terrorist groups and restore normalcy across troubled communities in the state.
