President Bola Tinubu, Thursday night, hosted a reconciliation meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, bringing together all the figures in the Rivers State political crisis.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, Speaker Martins Amaewhule, and other Rivers State Assembly members attended the closed-door session.
Prompt News recalls that President Tinubu had on March 18, 2025, declared a state of emergency, suspending Governor Fubara, his deputy, and all the State House of Assembly members.
The decision to declare a state of emergency, according to President Tinubu, is in line with Section 305 of the 1999 Constitution.
He said he could no longer continue to watch the political situation in Rivers escalate without taking any action.

The president then appointed and swore in Vice Admiral Ibok-ete Ibas (rtd), a retired Chief of Naval Staff as the sole administrator to superintend over the affairs of Rivers state for six months in the first instance.
