Three people were ambushed and killed in Dundu, a community in Kwall District, Irigwe Chiefdom of Bassa Local Government Area, Plateau State.
The attack occurred amid ongoing destruction of dry-season farms in the area.
Prompt News reports that authorities have yet to confirm the incident.
The Plateau State Governor’s Special Adviser on Security, Brigadier-General Gakji Shipi (retd), stated he was unaware of the attack.
However, the state police spokesperson, Alfred Alabo, is yet to react to the attack.
Operation Safe Haven (OpSH) spokesperson, Major Samson Zhakom, said investigations were ongoing.
Joseph Yonkpa, National Publicity Secretary of the Irigwe Youth Movement, identified the victims as John Avia (48), Sunday Vickson (32), and Peter Vickson (30). He stated that the attack happened on Sunday evening as they returned home from work.
He also noted a recent rise in ambushes and farm destruction, urging residents to remain vigilant.
In a separate development, OpSH troops arrested a suspect linked to a group allegedly planning attacks following the suspension of illegal mining activities.
According to Major Zhakom, security forces detained a leader of the Jungle Boys cult on March 20, 2025, in Angwan Gainyeh, Jos South LGA.
The suspect remains in custody, cooperating with investigators.
Additionally, on March 23, 2025, troops responded to reports of criminal activity in Sabon Layi, Mangu LGA. Security forces confronted the suspects, who fled after a brief clash.
A 29-year-old man was arrested with an AK-47 rifle and two rounds of ammunition. Troops also recovered 30 rustled cows, which were returned to their owner.
The suspect and seized items remain in custody for further investigation.
