For the fiery Human rights activist and pro-democracy campaigner, Omoyele Sowore, it’s a “Black Saturday” following the killing of his younger brother, Olajide, Saturday morning in Edo state.
According to a Facebook post by the elder Sowore, Olajide was allegedly shot dead by men suspected to be herdsmen masquerading as kidnappers at Okada, near Benin City on his way from Igbinedion University in Edo State where he is studying Pharmacy.
Sowore’s post reads in parts:“My immediate younger brother, Olajide Sowore was today shot and killed near Okada in Edo state by reportedly herdsmen/kidnappers on his way from Igbinedion University in Edo State where he is studying Pharmacy”.
The Sahara Reporters’ Publisher and former Presidential candidate in the 2019 Presidential Election, also announced in the post on Saturday that the Divisional Police Officer of Okada Police Station confirmed the death to his family.
The deceased is said to be in his late 40s just as the Police authorities are yet to officially react to the student’s death as of the time of filing this report.
