The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has declared Morocco winners of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Prompt News reports.
CAF’s Appeal Board took the decision following an appeal by the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF).
The decision, announced on Tuesday overturns an earlier ruling by the CAF Disciplinary Board.
The Appeal Board found that the conduct of the Senegal team fell within Articles 82 and 84 of the competition’s regulations, leading to the forfeiture of the match.
In a separate ruling, Morocco midfielder Ismaël Saibari was found guilty of misconduct in violation of Articles 82 and 83(1) of the CAF Disciplinary Code.
His sanction was reduced to a two-match suspension, with one match suspended, while a previously imposed fine of $100,000 was overturned.
The Appeal Board also addressed several match-related incidents. The FRMF was held responsible for the conduct of ball boys, with the associated fine reduced to $50,000.
However, a $100,000 fine for interference around the OFR/VAR review area was upheld after the appeal on that matter was dismissed.
Additionally, a fine relating to a laser incident was reduced to $10,000.
The ruling brings a definitive conclusion to the disciplinary case surrounding the AFCON 2025 final, confirming Morocco as winners by default following Senegal’s forfeiture.
