Rangers claimed their ninth Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title following a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Ikorodu City at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos on Sunday.
Fidelis Ilechukwu’s men made a bright start and went ahead in the 30th minute through Chidiebere Nwobodo.
Nwobodo grabbed his second goal 10 minutes into the second half to put the Flying Antelopes firmly in control.
Ikorodu City, who were also chasing a continental ticket, pulled one back through Moses Ali in the 58th minute, but Rangers held on to secure the win and the league crown.
Rangers top the standings with 68 points from 38 matches.
Rivers United secured second place following a convincing 3-0 victory over Katsina United at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.
Chijioke Mbaoma scored twice for Rivers United, while Aniekeme Okon added the third goal.
