The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested several suspects in connection with a motorcycle theft syndicate and the killing of a 17-year-old boy in Birnin Kebbi.
CSP Nafiu Abubakar Kotarkoshi, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed the arrests on Monday, emphasizing the police’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks and maintaining a safe environment across the state.
According to him, “Two suspects, Muhammad Sa’idu, 22, of Kwanga village, and Kabiru Suleiman of Warrah town, were apprehended on November 20, 2025, for stealing a Bajaj motorcycle belonging to the resident of Warrah.”
He added that the suspects confessed during interrogation to being members of a wider criminal gang operating between Kebbi and Niger states.
A search of the home of one gang member, Yahuza Aliyu, led to the recovery of numerous stolen items, including four motorcycles, two sewing machines, two boat engines, three pumping machines, two generators, two grinding machines, a plasma TV, solar panels, and other property.
Kotarkoshi said the recoveries confirm that the suspects were operating a coordinated theft ring.
In a separate case, the police arrested Jame Jidda, 22, for the killing of Salihu Hassan, 17, who was found in a pool of blood at the Ilelaryari area of Birnin Kebbi on November 24, 2025.
He explained that officers responded promptly to a distress call, with operatives and vigilantes rushing the victim to Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
During preliminary investigations, the suspect admitted stabbing the deceased on the neck with a sharp knife during an argument.

Bello M. Sani, the Commissioner of Police, condemned the killing and urged youths to avoid violence, advising them to seek lawful redress rather than taking the law into their own hands.
