Ahead of the governorship elections slated for June 21 and August 9 in Ekiti and Osun states respectively, the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued timetable for the conduct of primaries.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, Thursday night stated that the Expression of Interest/ Nomination Forms will go on sale in Ekiti state, from February 24 to March 3rd. For Osun state, it will go on sale from March 14 and 21st.

According to Metuh, those interested in picking the party’s ticket for the governorship are expected to return the nomination forms in Ekiti between March 3rd and 6th while aspirants in Osun can return between March 24 and 26th.

At the close of submission deadline, aspirants would be screened in Ekiti on March 8th while their Osun state counterparts take their turns on March 28th.

On March 10, appeal arising from Ekiti primary will hold while that of Osun takes place on March 29.
Also, the party stated that Ward congresses where three ad-hoc delegates would be elected should hold on March 12 for Ekiti and April 2nd
            for Osun.

The state congress follows on March 15 and April 15 in Ekiti and Osun respectively.

Conscious of disputes that may arise from the conduct of the congresses, the party says appeals would be entertained on March 17 for the Ekiti aspirants, while such appeals would hold for the Osun aspirants on April 7.
After the appeal, the party would commence full campaign in both states ahead of the governorship elections slated for Ekiti on June 21 and Osun on August 9, 2014.

On the fee for nomination forms, Metuh was not forthcoming. Prompt News however, gathered that it may still be the same N12 million that each aspirant paid during the Anambra governorship election recently.
