The Oyo State House of Assembly has commenced deliberations on a ₦270.85 billion supplementary budget for the 2025 fiscal year, with the bill passing its first reading.
The proposed budget seeks to bridge funding gaps in the state’s recurrent and capital expenditures, enabling the continuation and expansion of vital government initiatives and services.
Titled “A Bill for the Supplementary Budget of ₦270,854,500,000.00 Being the Recurrent and Capital Expenditure for the Services of Oyo State of Nigeria in the Year Ending on the 31st Day of December, 2025,” the proposal was presented by the House Majority Leader, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin, who represents the Ogbomoso South Constituency.
According to the bill, the entire amount will be drawn from the Consolidated Revenue Fund and utilized within the 2025 financial year, which ends on December 31.
The supplementary appropriation is designed to bolster ongoing projects and address unforeseen expenditure not included in the original 2025 budget.
A portion of the bill reads: “The sum of ₦270,854,500,000.00 shall be appropriated from the Consolidated Revenue Fund during the year ending on the 31st day of December, 2025 for the services set out in the 1st Schedule to this Law.”
The bill underscores the Oyo State Government’s commitment to strengthening public service delivery, infrastructure development, and economic growth across key sectors.
