The Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps arrested Rufai Akorede, a 22-year-old male teacher, on Tuesday for allegedly molesting a seven-year-old female pupil (name withheld) in Ilesa.
The suspect was said to have asked the girl to put his manhood in his mouth after school closing hours.
In a statement signed by the Command Public Relations Officer, Kehinde Adeleke, Osun NSCDC’s State Commandant, Igbalawole Sotiyo, immediately ordered a discreet investigation into the incident upon receiving the report.
The statement further revealed that the command’s investigation showed Akorede began molesting the girl at some point in 2024.
“In his confessional statement, on that day after the school hours, Akorede asked the victim to close all windows in a classroom and thrust his manhood into her mouth.
“The second incident happened on March 20, 2025, after school hours. It was only the teacher and the girl who were in the class, and he pressed her buttocks.
“The suspect was arraigned by NSCDC, on Wednesday 26th March, 2025, before the Magistrate Court in Ilesha, Osun State, where he pleaded not guilty to the one count charge. He was subsequently remanded at the correctional centre in Ilesa. The matter was adjourned for trial.”
Adeleke also revealed that a 20-year-old man named Tiamiyu Samuel had been arrested in Gbongan, Osun state, for unlawfully having sexual relations with a 12-year-old girl.
“In his confessional statement, Samuel said he had known the victim for about three years and asked her to be his girlfriend, but she rejected him.
“But on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at about 3:00 pm, the victim was passing in front of the suspect’s house when he called her and dragged her into his room with the help of an accomplice. The suspect threatened the victim with a cutlass and had carnal knowledge of her.
“Thereafter, the victim started bleeding, and the suspect threatened to kill her if she told anyone. The accomplice is currently at large but will be apprehended to face the consequences of his actions. The suspect admitted committing the offence and a medical report confirms that the victim’s hymen was broken,” Adeleke further said.
The statement assured the public that the suspect would be charged to court after the investigation. It also quoted the Commandant urging parents and guardians to stay vigilant and closely monitor their wards to protect them from unscrupulous individuals.
The Osun NSCDC leader firmly cautioned individuals committing such crimes, stressing that those who refuse to stop will face serious repercussions.
