Nollywood actress and filmmaker Omoni Oboli has paid tribute to her late friend and colleague, Alex Ekubo, following his burial in Arochukwu, Abia State.
Prompt News reports Alex’s body arrived at his family compound on Wednesday, where a wake-keep was held in his honour. Several Nollywood stars, including Ini Edo, IK Ogbonna, Mike Godson, Omoni Oboli and Ayo Makun, attended the ceremony.
On Thursday, June 18, the actor was laid to rest in an emotional farewell attended by family, friends and colleagues.
Taking to Instagram after the funeral, Omoni expressed gratitude to God for the successful burial and announced that she would be releasing their movie, The First Lady, in his honour.
She revealed that proceeds from the film would be donated to Alex’s family as a way of preserving his legacy.
She wrote, “We’ve laid our bestie Alexx to rest in the glory of God. Thank you, Jesus!
In his memory and to honour his legacy, I am releasing our movie THE FIRST LADY on Omoni Oboli TV on YouTube by 5pm. The proceeds will go to the family, so please help us share widely.
