American rapper Nicki Minaj has followed Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate Peter Obi on X after sharing his statement on the reported killings and abductions in Niger State.
A check on the platform showed that Obi is the only 2027 presidential candidate followed by the rapper on X.
Minaj’s decision to follow the former Anambra State governor came shortly after she reposted a statement he shared on Wednesday concerning the security situation in Niger State.
In the statement, Obi condemned the reported killings and abductions, describing the development as a systematic devaluation of human life.
He also called for intelligence-led measures to tackle the criminal networks behind attacks and abductions across Nigeria, while urging stronger efforts to protect communities and citizens.
Minaj’s repost generated reactions from Nigerians and social media users in the country and abroad, with some commending the rapper for drawing attention to concerns about insecurity, justice and the protection of affected communities.
