A young Nigerian man has confessed to withdrawing N1.4m from his sick mother’s bank account and losing the entire sum to betting.
The man, whose identity was not disclosed, made the confession in a social media post that has gone viral.
He revealed that he made several withdrawals from his mother’s account, transferring the money into his betting account in the hope of making profits.
According to him, the withdrawals began on September 13 when he took N100,000 from the account and deposited it into his betting account.
He said he later withdrew another N200,000 the same day and used the money for betting.
The man added that he made further withdrawals, including N300,000, as he continued funding his gambling activities.
He said the repeated transactions eventually amounted to N1.4m, all of which he lost through betting.
Recounting the incident, he said, “On September 13, I withdrew N100,000 from my sick mother’s account and put it into my betting account. On the same day, I withdrew N200,000 and put it into my betting account.
“I withdrew another N300,000 on the same day. I continued withdrawing until it added up to N1.4m, which I used to gamble. But the money was gone.”

The confession has generated reactions on social media, with the incident highlighting the financial consequences that can arise from compulsive betting and gambling.
