The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested two suspects linked to separate incidents of murder and armed robbery in different parts of the state.

In a statement released in Dutse, the state capital, Police Public Relations Officer SP Shi’isu Adam confirmed that 40-year-old Iliyasu Musa of Dangewaye Village, Aujara District, was arrested for allegedly killing his ex-wife, Hadiza Sale, 30, from Afasha Village.

The incident reportedly occurred on July 10, 2025, when Musa ambushed Hadiza near her home late at night as she returned from the market.

He allegedly struck her on the head with a stick, resulting in her death. The suspect had been on the run since then.

“The suspect was finally arrested on July 23, 2025, at Larabar-Tambarin-Gwani village, where he had been hiding,” the police statement said. “He is currently in custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse and will be prosecuted in court.” The couple reportedly had six children together.

In a separate case, police apprehended a 20-year-old suspect, Alpha Samaila, of Sabuwar Unguwa, Roni Local Government Area, for armed robbery.

According to the police, Samaila was among a group of assailants who broke into the home of Abubakar Yahaya, assaulted him, stabbed him with a sharp object, and made away with N170,000 and a Tecno Hot 40i smartphone.

The attack occurred in the early hours of July 21, 2025.

Police responded swiftly to a distress call and found the victim, who was taken to the Roni Primary Health Care Centre, treated, and later discharged.

The state Commissioner of Police, CP Dahiru Muhammad, praised the swift actions of officers from the Aujara and Roni Divisions.

He emphasized the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, vowing that criminal elements will have no refuge in Jigawa State.

He also called on residents to remain law-abiding and assist the police with credible information to help combat crime.

“The Jigawa State Police Command is dedicated to professionalism and integrity in creating a safer society.

We will continue our proactive operations to ensure justice is served and criminal activities are curtailed,” the statement concluded.
