The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)is to announce the date for the resumption of Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) and Bye-elections tomorrow, Thursday, June 25, 2025, Prompt News reports.
INEC Chairman Professor Yakubu Mahmood disclosed this on Wednesday during the 2nd Cnonsultative Meeting with Media Executives held at Conference Room, INEC headquarters, Abuja.
Yakubu, who used the occasion to update the media on the activities of the Commission, especially the upcoming Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council Polls and the Anambra state governorship elections, said it is important the Nigerian people through the media know the level of preparations INEC is making to deliver on its mandate.
Said he: “I cannot conclude my Remarks without briefing you on the conduct of outstanding bye-elections and the resumption of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR). I am glad to announce that the Commission is now in a position to conduct the bye-elections and to resume the nationwide CVR”.
Speaking further, he revealed that the Commission met on Tuesday and is finalising the details of the two activities, which will be made public in the next 24 hours, which will fall on Thursday. He reminded the public that party primaries for the FCT Council Polls will end on June 30, 2025,
“As you are aware, the election will be held in 68 constituencies made up of Chairmen and their Deputies for the six Area Councils, namely Abaji, the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Bwari, Gwagwalada, Kuje and Kwali as well as 62 Wards drawn on the basis of 10 Wards for each Area Council, except AMAC which has 12 Wards on account of its population,” INEC boss posited.

On the forthcoming Anambra state governorship election,
Yakubu said the campaign which commenecdd on June 11, 2025, will continue until midnight of Thursday, November 6, 2025, which will be 24 hours prior to Election Day.
