Nollywood actor IK Ogbonna has dismissed reports linking him to an alleged romance scam, describing the claims as false and misleading.
The controversy followed online reports on Friday alleging that the actor had been invited and questioned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) over a supposed $75,000 romance scam.
The report claimed that a 49-year-old American woman, identified as Kimberly Ann, accused the actor of defrauding her after an online relationship that allegedly began in 2025.
Reacting through his Instagram Story, Ogbonna firmly denied the allegation and insisted he has no connection with any fraudulent activity.
“This report is completely false, malicious, and without any factual basis. I don’t support, or participate in any form of internet fraud, romance scams, or any other fraudulent activity.”
Prompt News reports the actor also cautioned the public about individuals impersonating him on social media, explaining that scammers have repeatedly used his identity to target unsuspecting victims.
