Marco Silva has expressed optimism that Alex Iwobi could make a return before the end of the season, despite the midfielder’s recent injury setback, Prompt News reports.
Iwobi sustained a hamstring injury during Fulham’s goalless draw against Brentford last weekend.
The 29-year-old was forced off late in the first half and replaced by his international teammate, Samuel Chukwueze.
Early fears suggested Iwobi might miss the remainder of the campaign. However, Silva remains hopeful that the versatile midfielder will recover in time to feature again before the season ends.
“It’s really bad news to lose a player like Iwobi. Kenny is still out but back on the grass and more involved,” Silva said during Friday’s press conference.
“Kevin is doing individual work but will be out. It’s difficult to give a clear timeline on Alex, but we expect him back before the end of the season.”
Iwobi has contributed four goals and three assists in 27 league appearances for Fulham this season.
Fulham will take on Aston Villa at Craven Cottage on Saturday.
