Flying Eagles defender Marvelous Freedom has been ruled out of the upcoming 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile due to a knee injury, Prompt News reports.
According to the team’s media officer, Shariff Abdallah, Freedom copped the injury in training.
The Ikorodu City centre-back has been replaced by Haruna Aliyu of Wikki Tourists.
Freedom will now fly back to Nigeria, while Aliyu is expected to join the squad in Chile Friday morning.
Meanwhile, the Flying Eagles are expected to move to Talca City from Santiago on Thursday (today).
Aliyu Zubairu’s side set up base in Santiago two weeks ago for their final preparations.They will open their campaign against Norway next week Monday.
